Ms. Sally is 83-years old, lives at home with her sister and cat. She has type 2 diabetes and has been also diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Ms. Sally is unable to reach down and touch her feet. As a result, she does not inspect her feet. She informed the nurse about her struggles with managing and coping with the diabetic treatment regime. Ms. Sally has been taking Metformin 500mg PO for the last 15 years, but this past week her Doctor has changed her to Lantus 8 U SC via insulin pen. Her sister tells you that following her injections, she has noticed a liquid running down the injection site. A few months ago, she purchased a pair of shoes that did not fit her feet appropriately and developed a foot ulcer. She was unaware that she had an open wound on the sole of her foot, until it started to drain. The wound is healed now, but she is concerned about developing another foot injury teaching plan
