Investing in prevention strategies is fiscally responsible for the organization. An average organization can spend $14 million on pressure injury prevention or treatment, a significant improvement from the $22 billion spent when the issue becomes a secondary diagnosis (Morse, 2019). For this situation, systems-based thinking does apply. Systems thinking explores components of the system and examines how they are connected to gain a better understanding of how outcomes emerge (McNab et al., 2020). The implementation of pressure injury prevention strategies examined the issue on an organizational and patient level to incorporate the best measures to positively impact all parties. This is evident in the benefits this decision has on patient outcomes and financially for organizations. Examining the influence that this strategy has on organizations and patients indicates that it was a beneficial decision. paraphrase
