You are a dietitian working at a local supermarket. A parent, who has a daughter on a local gymnastics team, approaches you expressing a concern for her daughter’s and her teammates’ nutrition. She explains that the girls on the team go to practice right after school, practice for 2 hours, and then return home to do homework. She understands that athletes have specific nutritional needs. The girls eat breakfast at home, lunch at school, and then dinner at the very end of their day. She is concerned that what she eats for meals and snacks may not be good choices. She also worries that eating a big meal later in the evening can harm her.
