10 Year old female, who is brought in by her mother for her failure to gain weight and height. The mother reports that the patient has had a decreased appetite, increased somnolence, and weight loss over the past couple of months. The patients most recent illnesses include: a bee sting on her Rt forearm, for which she received prednisone and antibiotics, at the end of September and an infected baby tooth which was the result of a permanent tooth eruption causing the baby tooth to crack. The baby tooth was then extracted by her dentist. She describes her fatigue as being tired easily, taking naps after school, and falling asleep earlier than usual. She is unusually exhausted after soccer games, or family outings. It started a couple of months ago. The fatigue is not better with rest. Sleeps about 9 hours per night plus naps. Takes naps daily. As reported by patients mother; eats more than an adult, especially at dinner. She will have 3 helpings, but now eats very little. Plays soccer but has decreased recently due to fatigue. Any medications taking? Yes, for allergies. No muscle weakness, no blood loss recently, but has had some weight loss recently.
