Pain is often described as dull or achy and clicking or popping may be associated (Dains et al., 2019). 1. Osgood-Schlatter Disease: common in adolescent males. Pain and swelling around the tibial tuberosity. Results from strenuous activity and sports. Pain increases with flexion and extension of the knee (Dains et al., 2019). 2. Chondromalacia patellae: the softening and tearing of the hyaline cartilage. Women are affected more often than men. Patients present with pain in the anterior knee that worsens with activities, such as climbing stairs, squatting, or running (Habusta et al., 2023). 3. Meniscal Injury: Tear in the menisci resulting from trauma, such as a twisting injury. Pain localized to the joint line.
