There are two classifications used in health care for pressure injuries are HAPI and CAPI meaning one pressure injury could be caused and obtained while being hospitalized and other can be out in the community. Hospital acquired pressure injuries can be very costly to the hospital as the hospital will be forced to cover costs of treatment. “HAPI treatment costs hospitals $26.8 billion annually in the United States” (Padula & Delarmente, 2019) Due to the high cost and frequency of hospital acquired pressure ulcers Denver Health has initiated for patients to have a complete skin assessment when admitting a new patient. The reason for this being is to be able to catch any possible pressure injury or potential risk factor of becoming a pressure injury and treating it as soon as possible. paraphrase
