I chose her because of the leaps and bounds she made for the future of nursing. Being train by Florence Nightingale has been eye opening and inspiring. Florence was a very well education young women thanks to her family’s high status and her father for tutoring her. She became so well educated that she began to take an interest in Nursing as a actual profession (Buckway & Sowerby, 2023). She went and studied in Germany where there was formal training for their nurses (Buckway & Sowerby, 2023). This was something that Florence believed was needed in England as health care was seeming dirty and not very appealing, so much so her family was very against her becoming a nurse. She went anyway, which is very inspiring she did what she felt was right for her, and thank goodness she did. During war she focused on hygiene and cleanliness of the areas where the sick and injured soldiers where being taken care of and that had a major impact on their mortality rate.
