The goal is for me to provide in-service education, as well as passing out surveys before and after the education in order to see if there is improvement in the rate of burnout and compassion fatigue. My short-term outcome is that the nurses who complete the surveys will have a decrease in the rate of burnout and verbalize that they have a better understanding of compassion fatigue as well as resources available to them. My long-term outcome would be continued in-services for seasoned nurses, as well as incorporating compassion fatigue and burnout into new nurse orientation. My data collection is going to be done through surveys using the ProQOL survey, of which I have made two (CVT, 2021). One was passed out at the beginning of the course in order to get a good baseline of the nursing staffs level of burnout and compassion satisfaction, and the other to be given out at the end of the course in order to assess for improvement. My process that I used to implement my education towards compassion fatigue and burnout was short 5-10 minute education rounding with the nursing staff.
