Your post was very informative, and I enjoyed reading it. I agree with you that caring as a nurse is not something one is enabled with. Caring is a science and learning how to care properly for our patients is key to ensure that all needs are met for our patients. I know that in our leadership roles showing and demonstrating a caring culture is imperative as others who are newer in the profession are watching us and learning from the caring culture we demonstrate. I agree with you that if you do not have great communication skills with your patients and coworkers you will find that every time you try to express yourself you will not get the reception you anticipate. Poor communication skills are a blockage to any nursing practice. This is why learning how to communicate effectively is key to becoming a proficient Nurse. Holistic nursing is not a new practice of nursing, but it is gaining traction and I believe it is an important aspect of the future of nursing.
