Job interviews are a vital component of a nurse’s professional life. They are also the way leaders add to their team. However, many nurses (as well as other professionals) fail to adequately prepare for them. Table 27.3 on page 490 in your textbook lists seven things to consider before you go into an interview.
List the three items which you believe to be the most important for a person to consider prior to being interviewed.
Think back to a time when you were interviewed for a job. Which items on the list did you focus on beforehand, and which items did you not?
Think back again to the time when you were interviewed for a job. What behaviors did the interviewer exhibit that you liked? If you were the person conducting the interview, what would you have done differently?
