The client is a 28-year-old male who collapsed while mowing the lawn. When the ambulance arrived, he was having a tonic clonic seizure. His internal body temperature was 109.4° F (43° C). The paramedics administered rectal diazepam and intubated him with an 8.0 mm endotracheal tube. They placed ice packs on the client for rapid cooling.
