Imagine that your facility is revising its pharmaceutical patient information sheets. The Director of Clinical Education, Natasha Romanoff, RN, MSN, has taken it upon herself to try to revise all of the patient information sheets. The results have not been successful. Patients are confused by the information, not understanding the technical language and jargon used in the documents. Moreover, the sentences are long and confusing, mostly because Director Romanoff can’t spell or use punctuation. Your floor manager, Fiona Goode, RN, MSN, who knows that your RN background includes creating patient information documents for the family practice where you used to work, pulls you to the side and asks you to revise one of the patient information sheets for use on your floor. As an experienced charge nurse, you well understand the needs of the culturally diverse patient population at your facility.
