Assignment 2 – EBP: Critical analysis of a professional nursing article – Groups Through the critical analysis of this professional article, the student applies critical thinking skills, such as the ability to analyze and critical reasoning of various phenomena that arise in professional practice, argumentation aimed at making judgments based on evidence, the identification of alternatives in problem solving and the evaluation of approaches or proposals of an author/authors on best practices in the exercise of the nursing discipline. It’s VI Instructional objectives: Through the analysis of a professional nursing article, the student will be able to: Identify the main theme of the professional article of the nursing discipline. Identify the main argument or arguments of the author or authors. Explain the views of the author or authors. Criticize the views of the author or authors on the subject of the article. Analyze the evidence presented by the author to support his arguments. Assess the reliability of the evidence presented by the author to support his arguments. Pass judgment on the conclusions of the author or authors. Justify their position on the subject and the arguments of the author or authors. Assess the importance or impact of the author’s topic and arguments in the clinical practice of the nursing professional. General instructions: Remember to carefully read the instructions and criteria of the evaluation rubric before participating in this task. This task will be carried out in working groups. The analysis of the article must be delivered on the date scheduled in the calendar of activities. Tasks will NOT be accepted after the indicated delivery date. The preparation of the work that it will deliver must be authentic, its originality will be verified through the Turnitin tool provided by Canvas to compare similarities and plagiarism. Specific instructions for the task: Each group of students will perform a literature search for professional articles related to the practice of nursing. You will select one (1) professional nursing article, less than five (5) years old published, that is related to one (1) of the following topics: Humanized and compassionate care in nursing. Emotional intelligence in nursing care. Information and communication technology in nursing. Effective communication and interprofessional relationships in the field of nursing care. Patient rights and access to information. Topics cannot be repeated between groups. The leader of each group must present the selected topic to be approved or not by the teacher. The group will explain in four (4) sentences, what were the reasons they had to choose the article they selected? After reading and analyzing the article, students will present a brief summary of the content of the publication in only 250 words. Giving special emphasis on answering the following questions: What is the main argument of the author or authors in this article? What other points of view do the author or authors propose in this article? What evidence (data, facts, studies carried out and related, among others…) presented by the author support his arguments? How reliable is the evidence presented by the author or authors to support their arguments? Conclusion or conclusions reached by the author or authors. Personal reaction of the student: Each of the students in the group will explain in their own words, what is their professional position on the subject of the article?, taking into account the following: Do you agree with the author’s conclusions and arguments? Explain your answer, whether for or against the author’s arguments. What recommendations of the author in the article, if any, are appropriate to improve nursing work in professional practice? What implications do the findings or recommendations of the author/authors have for the practice of nursing and for you in particular?
