Oh, this is a interesting topic. I have never smoked but I believe that a health care provider who smokes is a conflict of interest due to the fact that as a health care professional you are held to a higher standard regarding healthcare. I feel it’s kind of hypocritical to be a health care professional who smokes but is there to discuss smoking cessation with the patient. I personally believe health care professionals should not smoke, not only is it bad for their own health but it also can cause problems for the patient’s health. Patients who are asthmatic or have allergies can have a flair. A patient who is trying to stop might also smell it and then want a cigarette. I know that I personally get a headache if I am around someone who is smoking, it makes me nauseous so if I was a patient who had a nurse come in who smelled like smoke, I wouldn’t like it. Also, if you are a pediatric nurse, I feel like you should not smoke, that smell goes from you to the patient and is a strong smell to those who do not smoke. Should health care providers
