2) Scenario 1: Miss P is an 84-year-old woman with dementia who has been assigned to you in the Long-Term Care Facility where you work. She is a diabetic and requires daily blood glucose monitoring in the morning. She also suffers from left-sided weakness due to a stroke and requires total care and assistance with feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting. She no longer walks and requires the use of a mechanical lift to go from bed to wheelchair for meals. The majority of the day is spent in her bed. She is no longer able to change her position in bed and requires repositioning every 2 hours. She also has dentures which require cleaning twice daily. Miss P hasn’t had a bowel movement for 3 days, so the nurse asks you to give her a suppository. You have been given the responsibility to care for her. The following questions relate to this scenario. a) Describe the steps you will take to give Miss P her suppository.
