Mallory is a 54-year-old female who presents today for hot flashes and dyspareunia. She states that she has been in menopause for about 3-4 months; her LMP was about 4 ½ months ago. She says she is healthy. She does not smoke or use alcohol in excess. She has no allergies. She has had an appendectomy. She denies a family history of cardiovascular disease. Her medical problems include slight thinning of her bones, but no osteoporosis [based on a bone density done 3 months ago]. Medications include Calcium citrate 500 mg daily and Vitamin D3 1000 IU daily. Her last mammogram was 6 months ago [it was normal] and her pelvic exam was 3 months ago and normal. Mallory is an executive assistant for a private equity company. She plays tennis for exercise. She says that she has hot flashes several times per week, and that they are bothersome to her. She also states that since she stopped her menstrual periods, she has a lot of vaginal dryness, and that sexual intercourse is painful. She is married and monogamous.
