Patient Profile: This 67-year old White Caucasian male presents for his dental appointment. He has been retired from his factory job for the past 5 years. He was forced to take an early retirement because the symptoms of his Parkinson’s disease began to interfere with his ability to perform his work-related duties. He lost his wife several years ago to cancer and his grown son lives 1,000 miles away with his family. He has several veteran buddies whom he interacts with and who look out for him. He has not seen a dentist for over 10 years. Chief Complaint: “I have a broken tooth and my mouth is always very dry.” Medical History: The patient has type 2 diabetes, hypertension, early dementia, and Parkinson’s disease.
