You are an employee of a home care agency that provides home health nursing services on behalf of the local Community Care Access Centre (CCAC). Mrs. Rose, 86 years old, is continuing her postop recovery at home following abdominal surgery for an intestinal obstruction due to adhesions. You administer her daily insulin and change her abdominal dressing every 2 days. On your third visit, Mrs. Rose is crying and tells you that she is not getting along with her daughter who “only visits when she needs something.” She confides in you that her daughter only visits when Mrs. Rose asks her to bring her a few groceries. She says that her most recent bank statement shows a variety of small purchases of which she was not aware. In addition, there have been 2 grocery store purchases of $180 and $250 but her daughter has brought her groceries totalling only $65. When she asked her daughter about these debit charges, her daughter refused to discuss the matter and left. She tells you that she gave her daughter her access card and code while Mrs. Rose could not be “out and about”. She does not want to confront her daughter about it because she does not to make matters worse. Upon hearing of her situation, what should you do?
