rephrase: Screening tests are frequently used for diagnostics; these tests are measured by their sensitivity and specificity. Essentially, the validity of clinical screenings rely heavily on sensitivity and specificity (Gordis, 2013).This allows for trusting results that healthcare workers can use to further use to accomodate their patient that may, or may not, be suffering from a disease. Thankfully, with our advanced healthcare system, there are various clincal screenings that can be used for different cases. For instance, mammogram tests are commonly used for the testing of breast cancer. Dr. Carl D’Orsi exemplifies how a mommogram is used; if a patient tests positive, and a year later tests negative, this willl be referred to as false positive. If a patient tests negative, but tests positive a year later, this will be referred to as false negative (CancerQuest-EmoryUniversity, 2008). This further shows the importance of the accurancy of test results through sensitivity and specificity; had a patient gone on with their life thinking they tested negative for a disease, their life could have been put at risk for not treating a disease they did not even know they had. Although Dr. D’Orsi provided insight on mammograms, there are many testing methods professionals
