One major consequence of ignoring an individuals cultural beliefs and customs would be getting reprimanded as the physician. It is unlawful and unethical to violate someones beliefs and culture. You would probably lose that patient, and gain a bad reputation. It can also cause you to not properly counsel the patient or give adequate diagnosis which can furthur harm the patient. It is importnat to always keep the patient in mind and take into consideration what it is they are feeling. They are the ones going through it and it is important to listen and take their background and culture into thought and actions.
