14-year-old presents after injuring her left thumb in basketball game last night when she fell. Vital signs normal, left hand has slight swelling. No erythema present. She also has a 2 cm laceration to the second digit that will require repair. Radiology of thumb demonstrates no abnormality. ASSESSMENT: Sprain left thumb, laceration second finger, left hand PLAN: Patient given thumb spica splint and advised to take Ibuprofen. Repair of 2 cm simple repair was also performed.
