The primary nurse suggestions that Mr. Summer-Fall will be receiving PRN medications for constipation. Excited about this, Betty decides to do some patient teaching although she is not giving medications this semester. She gets her drug cards prepared and decides to research Mr. Summer-Fall’s PRN Meds for constipation so that health teaching can be done. In breakout groups of (3) – Please research Lactulose, Senokot, PEG 3350 and docusate sodium – What are these medications used for, side effects, patient considerations, patient teaching & how would you evaluate the effects of these medications? (Please refer to the Saunders Nursing Drug Handbook)
