Helen is a thin young woman and her prenatal record indicates she was born prematurely. She has had two spontaneous abortions and multiple urine and vaginal infections, including treatment for dysplasia with a LEEP procedure. She began prenatal care at 16 weeks and attended two prenatal visits due to transporatation issues. Following a swab of the fluid in the vagina which is negative for ferning, vaginal examination findings were 2 cm dilation, 70% effaced, -3 station, cephalic presentation. Helen denies recent sexual intercourse. She states her baby is moving actively today. The FHR is auscultated at 156 bpm and external EFM components are placed.
