The patient is a cigarette smoker. He has been complaining of shortness of breath lately. Previous x-ray reveals a shadow in the left lower lung. In the outpatient clinic, he underwent bronchoscopy with biopsy of left main bronchus. The final diagnosis is chronic bronchitis and emphysema (also called emphysematous bronchitis). Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS for this case. (Hint: Diagnosis: Two codes. Find one code to combine all respiratory conditions. Review all inclusion notes. Is the patient a current cigarette smoker? Procedure: One code. Do not code the x-ray. Go to excision > bronchus > main > left. Since a bronchoscope was used, what type of approach is this? Is Character 7 for diagnostic purposes?)
