A 22-year-old female patient who is 33 weeks pregnant arrives at the clinic in mild distress caused by abdominal pain. She reports experiencing lower left quadrant pain for the past 3 days, which she rates as a 6 on a scale of 0 to 10. Eating or moving does not cause pain. She also mentions new onset of vaginal bleeding that requires 1 to 2 peri-pads to be changed each day. She says she can urinate without any pain, urgency, or unusual frequency. She denies any pain or discomfort in her chest, breathing issues, nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, weakness, or syncope. She noticed some decrease in fetal movement but has been under increased stress because of finances and has been fighting with her partner for the past few weeks.
