Mary Brown, a 66 year old African American female, has been admitted to the ED via ambulance with complaints of chest pain. Her vital signs are T-37C, Pulse 112, Respirations 30, BP 160/88. Ms. Brown states her chest pain started while she was shoveling the snow in her driveway and describes her pain as serious but more pressure than sharp pain. She points to her left shoulder when describing the location of her pain and says it is a 7 out of 10 on the pain scale. Ms. Brown says nothing has made the pain increase or decrease. She reports a history of “hardening of the arteries”, “cholesterol issues”, and takes a baby aspirin daily. She reports her father died of a heart attack and that her mother has some condition that she uses nitroglycerin under her tongue to help with.
