Floating Floating nurses (RNs in a float pool) have typically been nurses who love to float. They were oriented and had the competency to adapt easily to any unit and provide quality care wherever they were sent. But floating nurses have become a reality in many organizations as a means to provide appropriate nurse coverage, and most nurses have to float at one time or another.
