1600 – The client presented to the emergency department via ambulance early this morning with a right femur fracture following a skiing incident with no reported loss of consciousness. They were on a ski trip with friends from college, and one of their friends accompanied them to the hospital. Their parents arrived at the hospital an hour ago and are waiting in the operating suite waiting room. The client reports having a history of asthma and uses an inhaler as needed. Preoperative vital signs were: temperature 37.5ËšC (99.5ËšF), heart rate 89/min, respirations 18/min, blood pressure 128/89 mm Hg, and SpOâ‚‚ 98% on room air. They reported pain as a 10 on a scale of 0 to 10 on arrival and have been receiving morphine for pain. They also received a dose of ondansetron for nausea prior to going to the operating suite.
