The cause of Joe’s abdominal pain appeared to be the result of acute cholecystitis. Acute cholecystitis would explain his extreme upper right quadrant pain and the presence of some slide in the gallbladder seen on the ultrasound. Along with this, Joe is also experiencing acute kidney injury. Gallbladder sludge is a material that cannot be absorbed by bile in the gallbladder which leads to it accumulating in the gallbladder (John Hopkins Medicine, 2020). There could be several reasons for Joe’s heart rate and blood pressure to continually increase.
