What professional organizations does (or did) the preceptor support?  Was he/she involved? If not part of an organization, is there a preference? Is it a requirement for their job? What benefits do they get from this? Ladder program or outside benefits?
What impact did it have on his/her practice?  If the preceptor was not affiliated with a professional organization, why?

My preceptor was in the NICU and only participated in the ANA as part of a tier-based quality improvement program. She was required to be a participant during the duration of the incentive program in order to receive the bonus. When asked why she did not choose to further be involved with the ANA, she stated that there was no incentive for her within her job role. She felt that the department provided an abundance of learning opportunities while expressing many join professional organizations to obtain CEU’s, but that this facility provided her with all the CEU opportunities that she needed. The specific education that was provided by the NICU had more of an impact on her practice than an outside professional organization would.
