Per the American Nurses Association (2015) Provision 5: nurses are to maintain integrity, they are to only share credible information, chart accurately, and avoid sharing misrepresenting data or withholding information from the patient. The provision includes that if the situation violates the code of ethics for nurses, the nurse can compromise on how to handle the acceptable situation within their ethics. If the compromise cannot occur, the nurse can object to their authority if they feel it will harm the patient or themselves. These two codes are similar in the regard they both involve integrity.
