(2017) state, “HBV can live on surfaces for seven days and is 50-100 times more infectious than human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).” (p. 974). When I was attending school for my associates, I learned an excellent tip to remember the hepatitis viruses: Hepatitis A & E: Vowels for the bowels (transmitted through contaminated food and water, fecal-oral); Acute Hepatitis B, C, & D: Consonants are chronic B: Body fluids, blood, birth C: Cirrhosis and cancer, chronic infection, D: Needs Hep B
