This 25-year-old patient delivered a healthy female newborn 8 days ago by cesarean section. This morning she noticed a bloody discharge from her surgical wound. She was admitted to Sinclair Memorial Hospital after speaking with her obstetrician. The admitting diagnoses include: postpartum hematoma, diabetes mellitus, Type I, controlled, and postpartum anemia. The patient was scheduled for an open evacuation of a large subcutaneous gelatinous hematoma was accomplished and a drain was placed in the wound until the bleeding cleared. Two days later the drain was removed and her ferrous sulfate 60mg PO once daily is to be continued x 4 weeks. Patient discharged home after 3 days to see her physician in one week. icd
