Susie Smith is a 33-year-old, G2PO who is 41 weeks gestation. presented to the unit today for a routine nonstress test due to being 41 weeks of gestation. Susie has a history of hypertension and had a previous pregnancy loss at 18 weeks of gestation. The nonstress test was nonreactive. I notified the provider who prescribed an oxytocin-stimulated contraction stress test. I did inform Susie of the plan, but she was upset. I’m not certain how much she understood. She does not have any support person with her. The fetal monitor is still in place, but I did not start the contraction stress test yet.
