The article discusses the code 99436- Attendance at delivery (when requested by the delivering physician or other qualified healthcare professional) and initial stabilization of newborn. In the 2023 CPT book, this code is 99464. An example of a scenario using this code would be an infant born with a congenital defect, such as congenital heart disease, cleft lip/palate, or spina bifida. It can be used in conjunction with 99460- Initial hospital or birthing center care, per day, for evaluation and management of normal newborn infant.
