Mattie is a 5-year-old female whose mother brings her in to the office with complaints of abdominal pain. Mom states the pain started a couple of days ago and has not changed. The patient describes it as a ‘tummy ache’. Mom states there has been no fever, nausea/vomiting, problems with urination, or change in her play. She states she still will eat but doesn’t want as much food as normal. Her last bowel movement was 4 days ago, but mom states that she doesn’t poop every day. On exam, you find a well-groomed happy, but anxious looking, 5-year-old female. Her vital signs are stable without tachycardia or fever. Heart and lung exams are unremarkable. Abdominal exam shows normoactive bowel sounds, percussion sounds dull over the left lower quadrant, there is no rebound or guarding, negative Psoas, negative Rosving, negative Obturator.
