Translating Research on Environmental Assessments to Improve the Length and Quality of Life in a Rural Region of the Kyrgyz Republic. Heavy metals released from mining activities in our case study are known to cause cancer and have significant toxic effects during reproduction, development, and early childhood. Training on how to identify at-risk individuals and when and how to offer an exposure reducing intervention is critical.
