The justification for the proposal was to increase the communication skills of new graduate nurses working on a locked-down behavior unit. Talking with senior nurses, they have expressed communication skills and the importance of giving medications in a timely manner. The new module at Sage Community College’s nursing program aims to equip the students with knowledge and urgency on managing mentally challenged patients. Implementing the proposal is important for the betterment of students getting jobs and their recommendation to Sage Community College. Increase student applicants and funding to the school. Faculty will be sure to keep their jobs and possibly raises. Evidence-based practice is ever-changing in healthcare. Educators need to keep up with changes and challenges in the mental health field to pass the knowledge on to our future nurses.
