For the 63 yr. old with the fracture I would ensure that the patient is as comfortable as possible and give any pain meds prescribed by the provider, ice packs, etc. I would make sure that the room is stocked with the supplies for a cast or splint. For the 32 yr. old with ankle pain I would have them elevate their foot, get an ice pack, and make sure the room is stocked with an ace wrap. For the 55 yr. old I would give them gauze to stop the bleeding (if they were bleeding) and prepare the room with gauze, antibiotic ointment, and bandages. For the 3 yr. old I would give them gauze for the bleeding, and I would prep the room for possible sutures or staples. I would have ointment and bandages as well. For the 10 yr. old I would prep the room with antibiotic ointment and bandages. I would ensure that all patients were as comfortable as they can be and I would refer to the physician or RN depending on the need of each patient to ensure I am doing the right thing.
