Your primary care doctor retired in the Fall 2023. As a result, you find a new primary care doctor who is accepting new patients. The first available new patient appointment the office can book for you is in June of 2024. In December of 2023, you fall and have a severe knee and ankle injury that prevents you from walking on your leg. You immediately call an orthopedic doctor who tells you they can see you right away but needs a referral from my primary care doctor to be seen. When you call your new primary care doctor’s office to request a referral you are told the office cannot provide you with a referral as you have not been seen by the primary care doctor yet in their facility. You are then told the office can try and squeeze you in within the next few weeks to see you and at that time will write the referral. What issues do you see with this situation? How would you proceed to obtain medical care given this situation? How does this situation impact your research in Part 1? If surgery is needed to correct the knee and ankle injury, does this change
