Revise this post: I could not agree with you more Jaime! I find this all frustrating as well. As an MRI technologist, we do not really have a donning/doffing area for PPE on our floor. We have 4 MRI scan rooms, and we serve the entire hospital. The department is 24/7, and in the evenings, we take the emergency department patients from the ED because that scanner closes. As you can imagine, when we are fully staffed, the department can be very chaotic. No matter how much “extra” we have to do to accommodate COVID patients, it has to be done. MRI is extremely taxing with COVID patients, mainly the patients that are vented. In a hospital setting, the safest place for a patient is in their room where they have been admitted to, on their floor with all the equipment necessary to care for the patient. MRI is not a safe place for any monitored patients in general. When a COVID patient comes to MRI, we have to have at least 3 technologists available to get the job done correctly. One tech scans the patient and is the “clean tech,” and also monitors the donning/doffing and door opening and
