The client is 67 years old (pronouns she/her) and has recently experienced a fall in their home. The client was walking with her silver sneakers group and tripped on an unequal sidewalk. The client has osteoporosis which contributed to a total break of the femoral neck of the right femur. The surgeons determined a total posterior hip arthroplasty was necessary. The client is currently in an inpatient rehabilitation setting for two weeks and receiving skilled OT for 30 minutes a day. The client will discharge to her home. The home is a single level home with a full bathroom on the first floor. The client lives with her spouse of 25 years and they are able to provide physical assistance at discharge. The client enjoys collecting plants and has a large number of plants on various services. They have two medium sized dogs and both the client, and their spouse enjoy walking the dogs daily. The surgeon has ordered the client to follow hip precautions for 2 months. Currently, the client’s occupational performance is limited by poor standing endurance, hip precautions, and overall fatigue.
