Module 1 lecture 1 covers prescription writing (please review). Prescription writing takes critical thinking. You must first look up the medication to find correct dosage, how the medication is supplied and how long it is to be given. You then need to take this information and transpose it to a written rx. Different drugs require different prescriptions. Some must be titrated and will require more than 1 rx. It is up to you to figure this out. The coaches and I will not answer direct questions regarding the rx. You must fill in your name at bottom of the script and make up DEA, NPI and License number. You still must sign the script. Sign above your typed information. If no signature is there, points will be deducted. You may type your name so that you do not have to scan the rx after hand signing. Use grading rubric. Write a prescription for a 13 year old female with asthma for an inhaler (formoterol/budesonide for maintenance and reliever (MART) therapy) for asthma. Write for one inhaler and one refill. Write a prescription for ear drops to treat pseudomonal otitis externa in right ear in a 5 year old. Zero RF.
