You walk into your patient’s room and notice a small puddle under the patient’s IV pole. You aren’t sure what the liquid is. What should you do next? Close all windows and doors and pull the fire alarm. Move the IV pole out of the puddle and notify your Clinical Instructor. Don gloves and grab a towel from the patient’s cabinet. Use the towel to soak up the puddle. Ask the patient how the puddle got on the floor.
