Patient presented to the ED with right shoulder pain after falling. X-ray demonstrated a comminuted fracture of the right proximal humerus which will need surgical intervention. Pleasant, uncomfortable patient in no severe distress. HEENT normal, no JVD, carotids normal. Lungs clear to auscultation. Heart regular rate and rhythm. Abdomen, nontender. Peripheral pulses are normal. Comminuted right proximal humeral fracture involved humeral head. Patient was admitted and surgery and open repair comminuted right proximal humeral fracture involving the humeral head was performed the following morning.
