A 72-year-old male patient is post-operative following a colectomy for colon cancer. It is noted that the patient is unable to urinate over the past 12 hours and has developed lower abdominal discomfort with dribbling of urine. Prior to hospitalization, the patient had a normal urine flow, no urinary incontinence, and no nocturia. PMx: hypertension, osteoarthritis, and chronic constipation Medications: Bisoprolol for hypertension Ibuprofen and acetaminophen for hip arthritis Senna daily for constipation.
