Mrs. White is a 50-year-old who had her gall bladder removed yesterday. She reports that her pain is a 3 on a scale of 0 to 10. She has an indwelling catheter in place. She has an IV running at 100 mL per hour. The physician has written an order to have the indwelling catheter removed. The catheter is removed at 1400. When should you expect the patient to void? What interventions do you need to implement if the patient has not voided within that period of time? What would you teach this patient once the indwelling catheter has been removed?
