Three Healthy People 2030 objectives that relate to my aspiration to become a physical therapist include chronic pain, pregnancy and childbirth, and overweight and obesity. The chronic pain objective is to reduce chronic pain that limits life and work while preventing the misuse of pain medication (Healthy People 2030, n.d.). Physical therapy is one method of reducing chronic pain without the use of drugs. I have a few family members with chronic back pain, and because of them, I am interested in understanding its mechanism and how it can be treated without drugs or surgery. The pregnancy and childbirth objective is to promote the health of women before during, and after pregnancy to ultimately prevent the death of the mother and/or child (Healthy People 2030, n.d.). Physical therapists have opportunities to help mothers and their babies. Therapists can work with pregnant moms to prepare for childbirth and in the postpartum period to regain strength and help with pelvic floor dysfunction. They also have the opportunity to work with newborns, helping them overcome disabilities and meet their developmental milestones. The overweight and obesity objective is to help people lose weight and/or maintain a healthy one by eating well and staying physically
