While still in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) a client with a large abdominal wound requests a second dose of morphine sulfate 2 hours after the administration of the first dose. If the order reads: morphine sulfate 4 mg IV every 3 hours PRN for pain, what would be the nurse’s priority action?
