Sixteen-year-old Samantha (Sam) was experiencing sudden onset dyslexia and migraines. Her mother thought it might be due to a concussion because Sam had fallen on her head during cheer practice. She was worried about meningitis as well. Her coach wanted her to have a myelogram when Sam fell, but Sam stated she was okay. The coach checked to see if Sam was experiencing any hemiplegia.
When Sam’s mother took her to the hospital, she learned that Sam was experiencing encephalitis and would need immediate treatment.
